In the Queer Big Apple Corps, we have always championed inclusion and connection, and sought to bridge divides. Today’s climate makes it more urgent than ever that we lift up each other and our audiences through vibrant art and creative expression that unifies and elevates our audiences and ourselves through music and performance and through our organizational practices.
Cultural equity embodies the values, policies, and practices that ensure that all members—including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented based on race/ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity/expression, cultural background, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or faith—are represented in the development of arts policy; in the nurturing of diverse avenues for expression; and in the fair distribution of leadership opportunities and programmatic and financial resources. At this time especially, The Queer Big Apple Corps commits to championing policies and practices of cultural equity that empower a just, inclusive, equitable organization. We reaffirm our commitment to diversity and challenge ourselves to work together—through our performances and our organizational practices—to support a full creative life for all.
